In Mumbai, a city of over 25 million people, there are few large open spaces--and many of these are not freely accessible to the public. Access to open space is a luxury that only a few neighborhoods have. This project was my entry for the "Polygons" theme for the 30-Day Map Challenge on Twitter.
I gathered open space data from Open Street Map, classified it into "public" and "private" types using R, and overlaid it on an interactive map of the city using the Leaflet library. The interactive features allows users to visually explore the city's open spaces and zoom in to areas of interest.
